Communication
My teacher, Kevin, is very interesting and funny. But we also get lots of homework. In class we watched a speech video on TED, (A formula for changing math education, http://blog.ted.com/2009/06/29/a_formula_for_c/ ), and he asked if we agree with the speaker ---Statistics is more important than Calculus. We had a discussion, and I like this kind of atmosphere. However, he told us to change the responsibilities between the teacher and students, that is, he asked us to try to find or design a project to make everyone talk in class. That's homework #1.

We watched most of this video in class. And the speaker talks SOOOOOOO FAST that I can't catch up:"((( That made me feel my listening is bad. I need transcripts or subtitles to understand most of the speeches, movies, and videos.QQ But I'll try hard!!!

I must say, it's really tough for me to catch up what the teacher, Stephenie, is talking about. She talks so fast, fluently, and sometimes a little bit too quietly>< And her teaching way is challenging for me. She asks us to think, to ask questions, to tell everybody your own thoughts, understanding, and interpretation. But I think I'll learn a lot in this class. Although some topics may be similar to those I've learned in Taiwan, we still have a lot to discuss. Besides, how to speak out my thoughts in fluent, coherent English isn't easy for me. So, just go ahead and try my best!

Reading discussion
Paula is so nice and I love her lessons! We watched part of the movie adapted from the Sign of the Beaver and discussed a little. I think I should talk more......
Conversation
It's also tutored by Paula:) We have several native speakers, and we students are divided into several groups so have short, relaxed, free conversation! I like this class.
HW Song Share 
The Colors of the Wind is wonderful, but it's chosen by Minnie already. Maybe I'll choose My Love(Westlife), The Rose(Westlife or Bette Midler), or maybe some cartoon songs, such as Circle of Life (The Lion King).

I got to know the history of America better, especially the Industrial Age. The museum have machines to make thread from the old factory. It's interesting to know how to transform cotton to thread---Combing and spinning (See more: http://www.ehow.com/about_6890542_cotton-string-made_.html )
The Willimantic 3rd Thursday Street Fest is also fun! It's just like a big market----music shows, foods, and something for fun. I'll upload the photos later.
